The "Atasholu" workshop was a famous producer of fine Keshan rugs in the early 20th century. The format seen here was also used in pieces attributed to the legendary "Mohtashem" family workshop. "Atasholu" Keshans are generally a bit younger and not quite as fine as their "Mohtashem" type counterparts. This rug is of high technical quality, with high quality wool and beautiful color saturation. Having been in an outstanding collection for many years, the condition is extraordinary. The navy field contains a brick red medallion. Willow trees appear in the medallion, field and brick red corner spandrels. A well articulated, navy blue border with "Boteh" (Paisley shaped) flowers and large, multi color flowers, frames the field.
Circa 1910.
Size: 4'4" x 6'7"
